I swam in the Dead Sea yesterday

When I found out our trip was going to the Dead Sea, I imagined swimming in it would feel like a baptism. And it did. Maybe it was the salty water that makes you float no matter how still you lay. Or the thick, gooey mud that clings to your body so tightly one second, only to wash away in the next. Or it could have been the fact that I was floating (literally) right smack between Jordan and Israel (or Palestine, depending on where your allegiances lay). I don’t know. What I do know is it was just as peaceful and cleansing as I expected it to be. I hope I get to do it again soon.
